Extra-curricular activities “Religion and Politics” course, Political Science and Public Administration program

           Political Science program, major in Politics and Government, School of Political Science and Public Administration, Walailak University organized the teaching course “Religion and Politics” with Assistant Professor Dr. Siriporn Somboonburana as the lecturer responsible for this course. Learning objective of this course is to enable students to connect knowledge from their disciplines to the explanation of social phenomena. Skills in critical thinking, questioning, and seeking answers based on the principles of cause and effect are the learning objective as well. The last objective is that students can accept differences and can exchange. comments based on fairness and constructiveness. One of the important learning topics is, “Islam” which is one of the world’s major religions in Southeast Asia and Thailand, especially in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. Since there are approximately 95,423 Muslims, representing 6.17 percent of the total population in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province.

               The course therefore organizes learning activity outside the classroom at Al-Muvahhideen School and Klong Din Community. The speakers were Ajarn Basri Darakai, School Manager, Ajarn Manat Darakai, Assistant School Manager, Ajarn Padta Darakai, School Director, and students in Grade 11 who gave knowledge to the students about the history of Islam religious principles and important religious activities, especially the funeral. The history of Al-Muvahhideen School and Ban Khlong Din Community, Na Khian Sub-district, Mueang District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province were included in the lecture contents as well. The activity was held on Friday, February 17, 2023, from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, at Al-Muvahhideen School. There were 12 faculty members and students participating in this activity.
