University of Trunojoyo Madura

The University of Trunojoyo Madura (Indonesian: Universitas Trunojoyo Madura) is situated on Madura Island in East Java Province. In order to fulfill the needs of the Madurese community, the university changed its status from a private university named Universitas Bangkalan Madura to a state university in 2001. Law, Economics and Business, Engineering, Agriculture, Islamic Sciences, Teacher Training and Education, and Social and Political Science are the university’s present faculties.

Since 2017, Walailak University has established a Memorandum of Understanding for Academic Cooperation with the University of Trunojoyo Madura, and various activities have been held to enhance the mutual relationship. The University of Trunojoyo Madura organized the “ASEAN Summer Camp” for students from Walailak University to study basic Indonesian language and Madurese culture. It also included interesting short trips to well-known Indonesian destinations. Walailak University also welcomed students from the University of Trunojoyo Madura to stay on campus, appointed supervisors to oversee their senior projects, and offered opportunities for them to learn Thai culture via activities with Thai students.

Furthermore, as visiting scholars, some lecturers from the University of Trunojoyo Madura visited Walailak University and assisted our lecturers in developing the Indonesian Proficiency Test, as well as working as co-authors on journal articles and developing instructional material for learning Indonesian.
