Cooperative Education Abroad

Cooperative Education is a work-integrated learning approach in which classroom learning is complemented with on-the-job training. It is a study program component that helps students in obtaining real-world job experience once they have completed a certain level of knowledge and theory accumulation in their studies. Cooperative education will be arranged methodically. The Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development actively supports the operation and collaboration between the Programs and the workplace throughout the cooperative education practice in order to achieve optimum efficiency in training students.

The School of Political Science and Laws’ cooperative education program requires students to work in the workplace for at least one semester, or roughly 16 weeks. Students will choose a workplace in which they desire to work. The Programs will analyze the quality of the workplace and interview students to identify the suitability of employment and workplace for each student in collaboration with Walailak’s Center for Cooperative Education and Career Development. Throughout the working time, there is also a system of advisers to oversee and coordinate between students and the workplace until the students complete their job and report their results to the Programs.

In this regard, the School maintains an international network of workplaces with whom each program and its personnel have maintained constant contact and coordination. Those workplaces are prepared to devote serious attention to students’ training throughout their employment. Students can choose from a variety of jobs in foreign countries based on their interests, including positions in educational institutions, government agencies dealing with foreign affairs, hotels and tourist offices, industrial companies, arts and culture agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
